About WINDFALL

We are a UK based Arts and Theatre company that promotes collaboration and fresh, inspirational ideas. Together, we can discover, create and perform works that truly set imaginations free!

We are devoted to presenting a wide variety of Arts and Theatre projects. We specialise in modern twists on classical and classically inspired theatre, putting a brand new spin on stories and characters that have been well-known for centuries. That said, to produce vibrant experiences for our members and audiences is also our aim, and therefore we're always experimenting with new ways of writing, directing and performing inspired and inspirational theatre. We're dedicated to promoting newer performers and creatives up and down the country, for instance those who have just graduated from school or university, or who have only just entered into the world of professional theatre at whatever age. We celebrate the effect local theatre can have on communities, and maximise ways of bringing art to audiences, rather than the other way around!

Our productions invite audiences of all ages to delve into our national identity and history, whilst also holding a mirror to today's society. With our current bases in London and Manchester we have access to two of the best networks of creatives in the UK. Our mission is to enlarge our network to encompass the entire UK, allowing a larger number of creatives to collaborate in creating inspiring and exciting projects.

The company was founded in Spring 2018 by Sam Kioni Roberts and Jack Waterman, and was originally called FESTIVUS. Renamed and rebranded as Windfall in 2019, the company's mission has started in earnest. Sam is our artistic director and creative lead, and both Sam and Jack produce and co-ordinate our productions and events. Windfall has a steadily growing network of creatives and associates who we work with up and down the UK to create inspirational theatre and arts events. TESTIMONIALS

Sam's Directing and writing

Sam and I worked together on his original play in two parts More Fool You, premiering at the Edinburgh Fringe 2019. Firstly, I loved his writing. The Tudor dialogue especially was a joy to deliver, and the two plays were bold, original and brilliantly researched. When we started the rehearsal process, the first thing I noticed about Sam was his kindness to his actors. We all felt truly appreciated, and he showed such respect for our ideas and interpretations. He allowed us freedom as actors to fully explore character, and nuance. Throughout rehearsals, and into the run at the Edinburgh Fringe, any problems were dealt with ease and good humour. I would highly recommend Sam to anyone wanting to work with an intelligent, sensitive and creative director

Tom- Actor

I first worked with Sam as two actors working together in the same cast, and was immediately struck by his sharp wit, unique style and complete commitment to the work. I was keen to work with him again, so I leapt at the opportunity to perform in a piece that he was not only directing, but writing. In the rehearsal room, Sam created a fun yet hardworking atmosphere, putting me - who didn’t know anyone else in the room - instantly at ease. Sam’s clever use of the time and his choice of exercises meant that we were able to block two plays in two weeks! As we made our way through the plays, our ideas were listened to and widely tried out in practice. He engaged with us individually, asking us whether we had any queries about the language or blocking. He trusted us to go away and do our character work - managing to set deadlines without being overbearing as a director, which is a hard line to walk. Sam was also supportive to each of us throughout the month’s run at Edinburgh Fringe, and managed to stay professional whilst being a great friend. In conclusion, I would heartily recommend Sam Kioni Roberts as a director, and as the ideal colleague
